PLC Controls Engineer – Allen-Bradley / Rockwell Automation
Location: Sacramento, CA
Schedule: Full-Time | Day Shift
Compensation: $130,000 – $140,000 annually + Benefits
Work Environment: On-Site
A growing manufacturing operation is seeking a PLC Controls Engineer to support high-speed production equipment and automation systems. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer or controls specialist who thrives in fast-paced industrial environments and enjoys troubleshooting complex electrical and automation issues that directly impact production uptime.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and optimize Allen-Bradley / Rockwell PLC systems and automation equipment
- Support production operations through real-time electrical and controls troubleshooting on the plant floor
- Program, configure, and tune VFDs to improve equipment performance and reliability
- Perform preventative maintenance and system diagnostics to minimize downtime and production interruptions
- Work with operations and maintenance teams to identify root causes and implement long-term solutions
- Support industrial communication networks including Ethernet, DeviceNet, and RS485 systems
- Maintain and improve automation processes across manufacturing equipment and production lines
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing, industrial maintenance, or automation environments
- Strong experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting using Allen-Bradley / Rockwell platforms
- Hands-on knowledge of RSLogix, FactoryTalk, and industrial electrical controls systems
- Understanding of 3-phase electrical systems and industrial communication protocols
- Ability to work efficiently in a high-output production setting with minimal supervision
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
Preferred Background
- Experience within beverage, food production, packaging, or other high-speed manufacturing industries
- Familiarity with preventative maintenance programs and process optimization initiatives
- Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional operations and maintenance teams
